Kompass is the name of a system for the
compilation, production and supply of business-to-business information, either in printed
form or in computerized form.
This is a highly sophisticated system, conceived and created since about 50 years, and
continuously developed and improved since then by specialists in information and in
computer technology.
Kompass is an international license, presently exploited in
more than 70 countries, where licensees work on producing and publishing a database,
containing general information on companies based in their respective countries,
classified according to alphabetical, geographical or activity criteria.
Kompass uniform international database, which includes about
2.3m companies, 860,000 trade names and 4.6m executive names, is one of the largest, most comprehensive and most accurate in the world.
Kompass unique Universal Classification System (UCS),
according to which this database is organized, covers about 89 large sectors. These are
divided in about 2,200 branches, under which about 57,000 products and services are
listed.
